RETAIL THERAPY. Let's face it ladies, we all do it. Sometimes we just want a little something new. Usually, we don't need it. However; that being said, we have some very good reasons to go shopping, right?
We go because:

  1. There's nothing else to do.
  2. We are just going to look, and not spend anything.
  3. After Sunday brunch our friend says "Oh, let's just stop in here for a minute."
  4. We are pissed at our significant other. We'll show them. So there.
  5. We need to get out and get some fresh air.
  6. We know, intellectually, that we shouldn't, but we do it anyway (and sabotage ourselves).
  7. We just want to see what's new.
  8. We have a little extra money and it's burning a hole in our pocket.
  9. It makes us happy.
  10. We are pretty sure we are getting a raise. By the time the bill comes, we can pay it off in full.
  11. We absolutely MUST  have something new to wear to  the _________.
  12. We lost weight. (Halle-friggin'-lujah.)
  13. We gained weight. (Shit.)
  14. There is nothing at all to wear in our closet.
  15. We need to keep up with the Jones's.
  16. We really DO think we need a little retail therapy.
  17. If we buy something new, we'll be happier, prettier, look skinnier, we'll smile more, our wrinkles will disappear, our skin will glow, we will meet someone and fall in love, our house will be cleaner and our dishwasher will unload itself.
  18. Our "everything" is out of style.
  19. It gives us a natural "high."
  20. We just got a bad haircut and hope that by wearing new things, the attention will not be on our head.
  21. We are in a great mood.
  22. We are in a bad mood.
  23. We feel fat.
  24. We feel ugly.
  25. We feel beautiful.
  26. We think a feeling is a fact.
  27. We "need to look the part."
  28. It's better than staying home and eating.
  29. It's better than sex. Really?
  30. It's the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, if they don't have our size.
  31. Because we enjoy it.
  32. It's what we do.

Did I miss anything? Probably. Thirty-two reasons and counting, geesh. We all have our reasons and we will tell ourselves and anyone else that they are damn good ones. We may even get  a little righteous about it.

So what? What's wrong with going shopping? Did I say there is anything wrong with shopping? Oh hell no. I'll be the first one to say I love shopping. Love, love, love it. You probably do too!

With this in mind, I have found some great web sites that I want to share with you.  Some are for stores that you are already familiar with. Many are  European sites.  There are fantastic sites to use as search engines and great ones to find the bargain of the century.

Go forth and conquer.

P.S. If you spend too much $$ shopping, there are several things you can do. I have listed a few here:

  1. If you feel guilty once you get home and/or when the bill arrives - just go return it. You have already experienced thrill of buying it.
  2. You can eat Ramen noodles until you pay off the bill.
  3. You can offer to babysit the neighbor's kid.
  4. You can sell your gold jewelry and get a lot of $$$ for it now.
  5. Return everything you have at home that still has the original tags on it. Do not worry if you can't find the receipt, because if you can't, you will get store credit. This gives you yet another good reason to go out shopping.
  6. Have a garage sale.
  7. If you have some barely used shoes, handbags and accessories, you can sell them your friends that have been jealous of you, if you price them for a quick SALE! Believe me, they will respond to the "S" word.
  8. Hold a bake sale in your garage. Make sure you have plenty of free coffee to offer.
